Get ready for a week filled with action, sea spray, lots of fun together with a magical experience of nature. This trip will give you an unique opportunity to get to know other people who share your passion for the outdoors, combined with seawater and the awesome nature here in Norway. In other words: The perfect trip for a memorable holiday experience!
Don’t hesitate to join this trip even if you have no knowledge about sailing, because you can always learn along the way. If you already have some previous sailing experience, you will be able to develop your skills further by learning from our experienced skipper and sailing instructor. On this trip, you can participate in both sailing and navigation.
We will meet in Tromsø and sail through the spectacular nature on the outer side of Kvaløya and Senja. We will also bring a small inflatable boat that can take us ashore in places that are otherwise difficult to access. If the weather is good, we will spend the night amongst all the little islets out there in the open sea. Waking up in the middle of this stunning scenery is a very special experience.
The outer side of Kvaløya and Senja is the habitat of rare animal and bird species. The sailboat, as an eco-friendly and peaceful means of transport, can get us close to bird species such as puffins, auks and guillemots. If we are really lucky, we can even see whales out in the open sea.
The sailboat is our base during the entire trip, and we will all contribute to the daily routines on board. All our food and non-alcoholic beverages for this trip are loaded in the boat before the sailing trip starts. If you prefer your food served with an alcoholic beverage, you are free to bring your own favourite.
Halfway around Senja we are ready for one of the highlights of the sailing trip, which is a hiking trip to the iconic mountain Segla. Segla is named after its shape; Looking like a sail in the wind.
From the charming fishing village Husøy we are picked up by a driver who will take us to the small fishing village Fjordgård at the foot of Segla. This mountain reigns with its characteristic appearance over the sea on the west side of Senja, and standing or lying on the plateau you can look straight down the steep mountain wall that ends abruptly in the sea below us. Here, most people will probably experience a tickly feeling in their stomachs!
We will also visit the resort Hamn i Senja – a popular destination for pleasant dining, accommodation and activities. Here you can enjoy a hot shower and then have a cold beer on the pier, or in the jacuzzi.
For those of you who still have some power left in your legs, we can also recommend a short mountain hike to Sukkertoppen. On the top you will get a panoramic view of the archipelago of Bergsøyan and the open sea beyond. This round trip takes about 2 hours from Hamn. Or, what about a guided kayaking tour into the archipelago of Bergsøyan? With a kayal licence you can also rent your own kayak and the equipment needed for a quiet evening tour all by yourself.
When leaving Hamn in Senja, we will sail further south and soon reach the southernmost point of Senja. From this point we will sail inshore into a more lush landscape.
Before we head north on the inside of Senja back to Tromsø, we will visit the archipelago of the Norwegian Viking Chief Tore Hund in Harstad.
This sailing trip wants to offer you some of the best experiences of sailing in Norway. Welcome aboard for an exciting holiday week!
